Moon Dogs & Sun Dogs

Back in 2001 while in college at East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, I once witnessed a moon dog.  At the time I had no idea what it was; it just appeared to be a big ol’ halo around the moon.  It wasn’t until very recently when I learned about such a thing. I’ve heard of sun dogs before but the reality of moon dogs evaded me.

Then just recently about two or three months ago I looked up at the sky at night and boom, another one, only this time I knew what I was dealing with.

What is a Moon Dog?

A Moon Dog, also known as a Paraselene, is an atmospheric phenomenon that’s supposedly caused by the refraction, reflection, and dispersion of sunlight through ice crystals in the Earth’s atmosphere. They typically appear as a pair of faint patches of light, at around 22° to the left and right of the Moon, and at the same altitude above the horizon as the Moon. They may also appear alongside 22° halos.

Sun Dogs

My father had a Funk and Wagnalls Dictionary from 1914. In it, I found something called the Danzig Phenomenon, aka the Sevenfold Sun miracle.

“Danzig Phenomenon: a halo observed by Hevelius at Danzig in 1661 A.D. and since represented in text-books as the typical classical example of the norm in halo-phenomena”

Here’s what wikipedia has to say

Fehlau’s account

The translation of Fehlau’s account[5] reads (notes added for clarity):

We now come to the description of the recently appeared sundogs or parhelia, which had been observed a fortnight ago and which we talk of now. They were like this: A fortnight ago it was February 20 at about 11 a.m. when the sun was in the southeast and the air was all bright and clear. There were seven suns clearly visible in the sky at the same time, three colourful and three white ones additionally to the real sun. Around the latter one (the real sun) appeared a rather big and almost closed circle with very beautiful colours like a rainbow (the 22° halo), on which at both sides two colourful sundogs were visible which were at the same elevation as the real sun. Both of them had long clear and white tails, tapering like comets, one pointing to the east and the other one to the west (the ends of the parhelic circle).

Second, on just that circle (the 22° halo), directly above the sun, under a vertical line (possible sun pillar), there was a part of an inverted circle or rainbow, also with very beautiful colours (the upper tangent arc), with another, a bit less bright sundog in it (possible Parry arc).

Third there was a very much larger circle with also a lot of beautiful colours around the Sun (the 46° halo), surrounding the other one, a bit fainter and not totally closed as the horizon was too near and the diameter of the circle too big, on which near the uppermost point an inverted part of a rainbow was visible (the circumzenithal arc), very bright and with beautiful colours.

Fourth there was a very white and silvery circle emerging from the two sundogs beside the real Sun (the parhelic circle), which surrounded the whole horizon and was in all parts at the same distance, which was about 20 degrees: On this circle there were three other silver Suns, one in the northwest, opposite the real Sun (the anthelion). The other one in the northeast and the third one in the southwest (Hevelius’s 90° parhelia; though possibly 120° parhelia in fact). Through these two latter ones as eastern and western one passed a white piece of an arc coming from above (“Hevel’s halo”), also through the big circle they were standing upon. So that through these two white sundogs a white cross seemed to pass, which appeared very amazing for about one hour and a half before everything disappeared. It was an overwhelmingly beautiful picture, in which seven suns were visible at the same time, which never had been observed before. Yes, scholars (possibly Hevelius) believe that, if this picture had been observed a little earlier, there would have been visible nine suns at the same time.”

Similar events have happened throughout history.  On commenter on a popular site had this to say:

“As an amateur astronomer, what people see (or think they see) in the sky is of interest to me.  What follows is purely my own personal interpretation of what has been seen throughout history and why people tend to look at the Sun and think they see something miraculous or supernatural going on there.

Augsburg Book of Miracles – 1552 A.D.

The Augsburg Book of Miracles (also known simply as The Book of Miracles) is an illuminated manuscript made in Augsburg in Germany in the 16th century.

“The Book of Miracles unfolds in chronological order divine wonders and horrors, from Noah’s Ark and the Flood at the beginning to the fall of Babylon the Great Harlot at the end; in between this grand narrative of providence lavish pages illustrate meteorological events of the sixteenth century. In 123 folios with 23 inserts, each page fully illuminated, one astonishing, delicious, supersaturated picture follows another.” – http://benedante.blogspot.com/2014/05/the-book-of-miracles.html

“These depictions of celestial phenomena and portentous signs were recently discovered as part of a collection of 169 (13 x 13) illustrations created in Augsburg, Germany around 1552. Reproduced as The Book of Miracles for the first time in its entirety by Taschen, the book is one of the most remarkable modern finds in the field of Renaissance art, offering a unique view into the fears and fascinations of the age.”  https://www.nowness.com/story/the-book-of-miracles

Celestial Phenomenon over Nuremberg – 1561 A.D.

The inhabitants of the German city of Nuremberg see strange objects in the sky.  The Sun plays an important part in this display.

The text of the broadsheet has been translated by Ilse Von Jacobi as follows:

In the morning of April 14, 1561, at daybreak, between 4 and 5 a.m., a dreadful apparition occurred on the sun, and then this was seen in Nuremberg in the city, before the gates and in the country – by many men and women. At first there appeared in the middle of the sun two blood-red semi-circular arcs, just like the moon in its last quarter. And in the sun, above and below and on both sides, the color was blood, there stood a round ball of partly dull, partly black ferrous color. Likewise there stood on both sides and as a torus about the sun such blood-red ones and other balls in large number, about three in a line and four in a square, also some alone. In between these globes there were visible a few blood-red crosses, between which there were blood-red strips, becoming thicker to the rear and in the front malleable like the rods of reed-grass, which were intermingled, among them two big rods, one on the right, the other to the left, and within the small and big rods there were three, also four and more globes. These all started to fight among themselves, so that the globes, which were first in the sun, flew out to the ones standing on both sides, thereafter, the globes standing outside the sun, in the small and large rods, flew into the sun. Besides the globes flew back and forth among themselves and fought vehemently with each other for over an hour. And when the conflict in and again out of the sun was most intense, they became fatigued to such an extent that they all, as said above, fell from the sun down upon the earth ‘as if they all burned’ and they then wasted away on the earth with immense smoke. After all this there was something like a black spear, very long and thick, sighted; the shaft pointed to the east, the point pointed west. Whatever such signs mean, God alone knows. Although we have seen, shortly one after another, many kinds of signs on the heaven, which are sent to us by the almighty God, to bring us to repentance, we still are, unfortunately, so ungrateful that we despise such high signs and miracles of God. Or we speak of them with ridicule and discard them to the wind, in order that God may send us a frightening punishment on account of our ungratefulness. After all, the God-fearing will by no means discard these signs, but will take it to heart as a warning of their merciful Father in heaven, will mend their lives and faithfully beg God, that He may avert His wrath, including the well-deserved punishment, on us, so that we may temporarily here and perpetually there, live as his children. For it, may God grant us his help, Amen. By Hanns Glaser, letter-painter of Nurnberg.[3]

According to author Jason Colavito, the woodcut broadsheet became known in modern culture after being published in Carl Jung’s 1958 book Flying Saucers: A Modern Myth of Things Seen in the Skies, a book which analyzed the archetypal meaning of UFOs Jung expressed a view that the spectacle was most likely a natural phenomenon with religious and military interpretations overlying it. “If the UFOs were living organisms, one would think of a swarm of insects rising with the sun, not to fight one another but to mate and celebrate the marriage flight.”

Celestial Phenomenon over Basel – 1566 A.D.

The inhabitants of the Swiss city of Basel see strange objects in the sky.  Once again, the Sun plays an important role in what is seen.

“A series of mass sightings of celestial phenomena occurred in 1566 above Basel, Switzerland. The Basel pamphlet of 1566 describes unusual sunrises and sunsets. Celestial phenomena were said to have “fought” together in the form of numerous red and black balls in the sky before the rising sun. The report is discussed among historians and meteorologists. The phenomenon has been interpreted by some ufologists to be a sky battle between unidentified flying objects. The leaflet written by historian Samuel Coccius reported it as a religious event.[2][failed verification] The Basel pamphlet of 1566 is not the only one of its kind. In the 15th and 16th centuries, many leaflets wrote of “miracles” and “sky spectacles”. The event is reported to have taken place in Basel, Switzerland in 1566. According to Samuel Coccius, on 27-28 July and 7 August, many local witnesses in Basel reported seeing three celestial phenomena. The first is described as an unusual sunrise, the second as a total eclipse of the moon with a red sun rising, and the third like a cloud of black spheres in front of the sun.”

The Legendary Rome Halo Displays – 1629 A.D.

“Five suns shone over St. Peter’s Basilica on a late March day in 1629. In those days celestial displays were often remembered for the number of their suns, and this display was therefore seen as special. But only ten months later, again in Rome, there was an even more dazzling display, this time with seven suns. The “suns,” other than the true sun, were atmospheric halos. Halos of various shapes are possible, not necessarily circular, and indeed many halos were present in the Rome displays. The suns, or parhelia, as they were also called, were the halos that were relatively localized, somewhat spot-like.”

Miracle of Fátima – 1916 A.D.

Beginning in the spring of 1916, three Catholic shepherd children living near Fátima reported apparitions of an angel, and starting in May 1917, apparitions of the Virgin Mary, whom the children described as the Lady of the Rosary. The children reported a prophecy that prayer would lead to an end to the Great War, and that on 13 October of that year the Lady would reveal her identity and perform a miracle “so that all may believe.”[13] Newspapers reported the prophecies, and many pilgrims began visiting the area. The children’s accounts were deeply controversial, drawing intense criticism from both local secular and religious authorities.

At least 50 people have lost their sight after staring at the sun hoping to see an image of the Virgin Mary, according to reports. Alarmed health authorities in India’s Kottayam district have set up a sign dispelling rumours of a miraculous image in the sky and warning of the dangers of looking into direct sunlight. Forty-eight cases of sight-loss, allegedly caused by photochemical burns on the retina, have been recorded at St Joseph’s ENT and Eye hospital in the region since Friday.

Despite warnings, and the potentially harmful effects of their actions, believers are allegedly still flocking to a hotelier’s house in Erumeli near where the divine image is said to have appeared. “All our patients have similar history and symptoms… They have developed photochemical, not thermal, burns after continuously gazing at the sun,” Dr Annamma James Isaac, the hospital’s ophthalmologist said. Even churches in the area have disowned the miracle after health officers and doctors approached the clergy. The house where the miracle is said to have occurred has apparently been the subject of rumours for months.

How Do They Work? -via Atmospheric Optics

Is this how they actually work? Are they just ice crystals that cause this phenomena or is their something deeper at play?

22°

46°

What the heck is going on here?!

Are these Sun and Moon dogs truly caused by ice crystals in the atmosphere? And if so, why? What’s the reason for the intricate geometry in the halos? It’s almost like the sunlight is shining through a glass or ice barrier high in the sky, or the firmament if you will.  Truthfully, I have no idea.

The Sun and the Moon are the same size in the sky. We are told this is simply because the Moon is 400 times smaller than the Sun, and the Sun is 400 times farther away. They both move across the sky at about the same speed. They both cause this anomalous optical behavior.  It’s almost like the Sun and Moon are part of the same system, which is a far cry from what NASA tells us.  Something is definitely going on, and I’m not about to take some alphabet government agency’s word on it.

There are just far too many coincidences between our place here on Earth and the Sun and Moon. For instance, the pathway that sunsets take throughout the year mimics the full moonsets.

The fact that the Moon perfectly eclipses the Sun should be a red flag that something magical is going on from our perspective.  We are not a mere speck of dust or pale blue dot in a never-ending expanding universe created by a ‘big bang’.

Of course there are lunar eclipses as well.  However I’m not sure if it is the Earth getting in the way of the Sun that causes the effect we see on the moon. I know… I don’t trust NASA!

It seems that whatever the Sun can do, so too can the Moon, just in a different manner. They are in a dual relationship.  It’s almost like the Moon is the opposite of the Sun somehow.

I’ve yet to confirm this but the rumor mill goes that if you measure the temperature of the moon light on a full moon, the temperature will actually be cooler than in the shade of the moon. This is the exact opposite behavior of the Sun.

Consider also the Metatonic Cycle. Named after the Greek astronomer Meton of Athens who lived in the 5th Century before Christ.

The 19-year eclipse cycle is a period of 19 years during which the patterns of lunar and solar eclipses repeat.

Peter Plichta, in his book ‘God’s Secret Formula’, had this to say on the topic:

“The distance, size and path of the three heavenly bodies, the Sun, the Earth and the Moon, are arranged ingeniously from an astronomical point of view. That eclipses can occur at all while these bodies move in their courses is a wonder. The diameter of the Earth, Moon and sun, and their relative distances from each other are such that the sun (which is much larger) takes up the same space in our view as the Moon. And this is why these three spheres cover each other for a short time in a total eclipse. The best Swiss watchmaker could not have worked with greater precision. In earlier times astronomers gave a lot of thought to this incredible ‘coincidence’.

The reason these eclipses occur only periodically is the rise and fall of the Moon in the course of its orbit around the Earth, of which most people are not aware. After every 18 years and 11.33 days (6,595.78 days) this eclipse arrangement recurs with the greatest precision.

It can be calculated to show that such a cycle corresponds to a whole number of eclipse years. The relationship between 6,585.78 days and the length of an eclipse year measuring 346.62 days is:

6585.78 : 346,62 = 19 eclipse years.  (*there are 19 circles in the Flower of Life, which is not man-made but part of our reality construct. -jd)

Analemma

Throughout the year, the Sun and Moon create an infinity pattern or figure-8 when mapping out their position every day throughout one solar year. This is known as an analemma.  Of course if the Sun does this, you know the Moon’s gotta get in on the action too!

The Sun and Moon create the number 88.  Interestingly, according to NASA, there are 88 recognized constellations, though my theory is that they are just messing with us.  Atheistic NASA knows the significance of these auspicious celestial events but do their best to dumb down these phenomena, making them appear as insignificant as possible, since they are basically under Satan’s dominion.  We can’t have the people understand they are the product of divine creation, oh no!!!

I’ll leave you with this video on The Solar and Lunar Analemma

Are all these coincidences really just coincidences or are they hiding Earth’s unique and central role in what we call the universe?
