In the backward movement, Aries being now in the lap between Pisces and Aquarius, and about to leave Pisces, which ends the Christian age, the sign in the physical heavens will soon be Aquarius for the. next —the Aquarian, age. If they do as they did during the last age, the almanacs will soon put Aquarius—the man with the pitcher of water in his hand, of whom Jesus spoke—where they used to put Pisces (Fishes), as the sign of the age. W'ater, the universal solvent, from its transparence, is the symbol of real science—the truth; and the man with the pitcher of water is the man with the truth, which he is pouring out to the world engulfed in a deluge of fallacies. No great saving truth ever comes to the world except through a man. The plain meaning of the whole is, that the world is about to enter upon the age of real science—knowledge. The sign of it for the age, in the physical heavens, will be the man with the pitcher of water in his hand.
The term Zodiac is derived from two Greek words which mean animal life and God; and the cycle of the Zodiac, which is a period of 24,000 years, is the cycle of the full development of God's animal or human life, out of the lower, the sinful humanity. This cycle is a cycle of cycles, a year of twelve months, in which we are assured that "seed-time and harvest shall never fail." There is a ripened fruitage in humanity at the end of the month, which is sown as the seed to "guard the way of the tree of lives," human life—the (rod-life in humanity, for the next age, month. The Zodiacal cj^cle of 24,000 years is divided into four grand ages of 6,000 years, of which the first is the age of gold—the age of Adam before the fall of the garden of Eden, in which God plants his seed. It was symbolized by the head of gold, following which is the age of silver, symbolized by the breast and arms of silver; then comes the age of brass, symbolized by the belly and thighs of brass, and, last of all, the age of iron—symbolized by legs of iron, and feet of iron and clay. Each of these grand ages has an age of gold, an age of silver, an age of brass, and an age of iron.
The world is now in the iron age of the iron age of the cycle of the Zodiac. That is why the political economy of the present is fittingly called the "Dismal Science," and the great masses of men are starving, or on the ragged edge bordering that condition. "My people have gone into captivity because they have no knowledge." "Now once in the sunteleia, ton aionon [ending together, consummation, of the ages—the age that ends the twelve ages of the Zodiacal cycle, absurdly translated the end of the world], bath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself." When "in the spirit on the Lord's day," that is, John saw into the spiritual world, which is in the human brain, and nowhere else, he heard one say: "Lo! I make all things new;" not all things of the phvsira earth, which is eternal, and never made new, but all things of the human earth, which is God's footstool The cycle of the Zodiac was closed, and the horribl conditions of its iron age were to be replaced by the happy, glorious ones of the Golden Age.
Of these, Paul had a glimpse when he wrote. quoting a prophecy: "Eye hath not seen, nor heard, nor have entered into the heart of man tb things that God hath prepared for them that lovi him." The happiness of this coming Golden Agehai been the burden of prophecy for ages; and these prophecies describe, not some future imaginary spiritual stat or world, but this world (all the world there is), dis thralled, and redeemed and rescued from the clutches i priestcraft and the god Mammon. This rescue wf| typified by Jesus driving the money-changers out i God's temple and pouring out their money, calling tini | place of business a den of thieves, declaring that the was laid at the root of the trees, and that every tn that bore evil fruit, these included, should be cut oil and cast into the Are. "For in those days shall affliction such as was not from the beginning of the cr I ation, which God created, until this time, neither shall be." "But in those days, after that tribulation, the I sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not gifl her light." "The sun shall be blotted out, and the I moon turned to blood." "They shall hunger no more.j neither thirst any more: neither shall the sun on them, nor any heat." "And there shall be no nigl there; and they need no candle, neither light of I sun."
The flesh of animals of size and species unknown to history, when released from Siberian ice fetters that have preserved it for untold ages, fresh enough to be food for dogs or other animals, proves beyond a doubt a sudden earth cataclysm which converted a torrid climate to one of eternal ice. The occurrence of one such event proves that there is a law of cataclysms; and when the cycle of their recurrence is complete, the world may look for another. There is historic evidence that the inclination of the ecliptic to the equator, instead of being 23½ degrees, as now, was once 45 degrees; and it is possible that at some time it was much greater than that. A sudden change, say from 90 to 45 degrees, thus greatly lessening the distance that the sun would travel north, would be sufficient to effect changes in climate. There is now in the northern heavens a magnetic polar point; at the other end of this axis, in the southern heavens, is a magnetic belt or ring. Now by a sudden cataclysm this 23½ degrees of inclination of the light and magnetic axes should disappear and the two planes should coincide, our sun would be blotted out and in its stead would appear, extending entirely round the heavens, a great ring of lambent light, resembling the incandescent electric light, and the prophecy would be fulfilled: “And it shall come to pass in that day that the light shall not be clear, nor dark,” and “the light of the sun shall not fall on them.”
This hoary old earth bears other scars indicative of mighty upheavals, which unmistakably indicate that what are now mountain tops once constituted the sporting ground of marine monsters; and that old Neptune now pastures his flock where once roamed the wild deer and the mountain lion. We shall sometime learn that nothing comes by chance, but that all things, human life included, move in cycles, appearing and reappearing, each in its own time, and order, and degree. With the disappearance of the sun and night must go most of the deeds of darkness that make earth an Aceldama and a Golgotha, and the discomforts that night brings to the masses of men, and the intolerable oppressions of the burning eye of day.
The wise man said: “There is nothing new under the sun.” This new light will only be the return of the long-forgotten old, and with it will come new light—understanding, in the minds of men, not in the long lapse of years, but shortly, that shall enable them to see better than to perpetuate the unspeakable crimes of war and slavery in any form. Then shall “swords be beaten into plowshares, and spears into pruning-hooks, and men shall learn war no more. But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree: and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the Lord of hosts hath spoken it.” Let the doubter and agnostic possess his soul in patience, for he will not have long to wait for these wonders to literally come to pass.
“And in the days of these kings [the four universal empires] shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never [Hebrew, not for the age—the Zodiacal cycle] be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever [for the age]. For as much as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation sure.” Always, in the Bible, in the very meaning of the original words, forever and eternal signify for an age, or age-lasting, and the ages measure the progressions and retrogressions of human life, which resemble the sowing, growth, and death of the typical wheat plant, until they culminate in the highest, the God-life—the seed and source of all activity and life.
