Editorial Discussions, Chats, and Correspondence. Eclipses of Jovian Moons and Discovery of Neptune.
(1) It is alleged by Copernican astrono- mers that when Jupiter is farthest from the earth, his satellites, when passing be- hind him, are occulted several minutes later than when he is nearest the earth; thus proving his great distance according to the known velocity of light.

How do you account for this ? (2) It is claimed that the planet Neptune was discovered by calculations based upon the aberrations of visible planets, before he had ever been seen; and that this is ad- duced as a proof that the weights and dis- tances of the planets are accurately calcu- lated by the Copernican astronomers.
How do you account for this ?—M. S., Edi- tor Equity, Cal. (i) Thephenomenon referred to above oc- curs about every 13 months, when Jupi- ter is in opposition to the sun, or near the time when Jupiter reaches his culmination at midnight.
At such times, the eclipses of Jupiter's moons occur about 16 minutes behind the time indicated by the astronom- ical tables.
The phenomenon indicates that there is a difference in the velocity of the transmitted energies, and not the vast difference in the distance of Jupiter from the earth, as in the old system.
In the consideration of the subject, we have the question of the transmission of three dis- tinct energies to deal with: The transmis- sion of the levic energies from the Jovian mercurial disc in the earth's shell; the transmission of visual energy from the eye to the visible planet, and the trans- mission of light from the visible planet to the eye. Astronomers and physicists are amusingly mistaken concerning the trans- mission of light; it is not propagated at the rate of 192,000 miles per second ! The tests applied by physicists are of the vital visual substance in the rapidity of its vibrations.
As the visual planet is derived from the mercurial disc in the earth's shell, so the rapidity of the transmission of the ener- gies from the visible planet depends upon the impulses received from the disc; and the impulses from the disc vary with the different positions of the disc as related to the visible sun; hence, the difference in the time of implantation of the mate- rializing pictures of the moving secondary disci in the shell, to the extent of 16 min- utes behind the time calculated for the occultations, when Jupiter in the visible heavens is in closer proximit}7 to the vis- ible sun.
(2) The argument that the Copernican system must be true because a new planet was discovered in 1846, is on a par with
THE EDITOR. the argument that the old system must be true because eclipses are foretold.
If the Ptolemaic system, or any other sys- tem, had been in vogue in 1846, Neptune would have been discovered by calcula- tions founded upon well-known planetary perturbations.
Every system of astrono- my expresses in terms of its own, all of the visible relations, movements, perturba- tions, times, and seasons, upon which calculations are founded, with equal accu- racy.
The hypothesis of Copernicus served the purpose only as a skeleton containing tabulated figures; any other hypothesis would have answered if it em- bodied corresponding deductions; when transposed into the language of any other system, the values would remain the same, just as the result of a mathematical calculation would be exactly the same whether common fractions or decimals are employed ; the operation would be differ- ent, the values the same.
The supposi- tion that perpendiculars constantly di- verge into infinite space, adds no degrees to the circumference of the circle ; it sim- ply enlarges it in miles.
When Neptune was discovered it was at 3250 52' right ascension ; Uranus was at I5° l7/ 3 / / right ascension, making a dif- ference of 490 25' 3 " in the astronomical longitude of the planets.
Uranus was observed to be retarded in its orbit, and the existence of another planet beyond the orbit of Uranus was a necessary con- clusion, founded upon tables of perturba- tions of Jupiter and Saturn; and its loca- tion, though yet undiscovered by means of the telescope, was but a matter of applica- tion of previous observations contained in the tables.
Its probable distance, accord- ing to the scheme of Copernicus, was al- ready indicated by the law of Titius, which, while designating the planetary progression, perverts the principle in the substitution of distance in miles for dif- ference in qualities of planetary energies.
The same conclusion would have been reached if the calculations had been made on the basis of the Ptolemaic epicycles, from the geocentric premise; or on the basis of the Tychonic system, or in ac- cordance with the Koreshan Astronomy.
But with all the conveniences and valu- able tables which would have enabled a Ptolemaic astronomer to reach a result consistent with his system, Le Yerrier made a number of astronomical blunders while appropriating the honor of the dis- covery from Astronomer Adams, Prof.
Challis, Dr. Galle, and others. Le Yerrier's
planet was not Neptune ; it has not yet materialized, and never will! He missed the mark of consistency with the Coper- nican system, overreaching the periodic time of Neptune 52 years ; made it three times too large, and missed the distance, even from the Copernican basis, over 600,000,000 miles !
Mormonism a Modern Fallacy. Answers to my questions in THE SWORD of Oct. 23, were clear and to the point.
Please answer the following questions: (1) What relation does the mission of • Joseph Smith, the Mormon prophet, sus- tain to the gospel of Jesus ?
(2) How do you account for the amount of vitality which seems to exist in the Mor- mon church, and f o r i t s success i n proselyting ?
(3) Is not the Mormon system now exist- ing in Utah, a formidable rival to the king- dom which KORESH is striving to establish ?
(4) "What does polygamy have to do with the gospel of Jesus ? (5) As you are aware, Ann Lee prophesied concerning the rise and decline of the Shak- er communities, which prophecy has been fulfilled.
She also testified of another ancl greater ingathering, which is yet to be verified. What do you say on this subject ?
In your opinion, will the Shaker communi- ties be revived and repopulated ? (6) Does KORESH teach anything concern- ing "spiritual affinities"?—A HEADER OF THE SWORD.
(1) Mormonism is one of the many phases of Antichrist appearing at the close of the Christian dispensation.
The truth and life sown in humanity nineteen hun- dred years ago become involved again, when the cycle of regeneration nears com- pletion; while the vitiated elements re- solve themselves into so many perversions of truth. This provides for the manifesta- tion of delusions contemporaneously with the manifestation of truth—in the harvest, when both truth and fallacy revive for combat. Mormonism is one of these coun- terfeits of truth.
The doctrines of Joseph Smith sustain exactly the same relation to the doctrines of the primitive Christ system that darkness sustains to light.
The relation exists, but they are antitheti- cal. (2) Darkness is as energetic as light.
Mormonism is organized, and employs a system of propaganda. The people are receptive to the influences of all kinds of frauds and fallacies, and humbugs thrive where truth cannot gain a foothold.
Mor- monism is a factor of disintegration of the old world, and will itself break into frag- ments.
(3) In consideration of the magnanimity
of the Koreshan System, involving as it does the science of the universe and its ap- plication to all phases of human thought and life, it would be odious to compare it with Mormonism, and beneath the dignity of truth to acknowledge Mormonism, a mere fragment oi the world's fallacies, as our rival!
Koreshanity is truth against the world, and will win against all falla- cies combined.
(4) Polygamy has nothing to do with the gospel of Jesus. Polygamy is a neces- sity when the conserved energies of a race chosen as the channel of divine activities, are in the plane of sensualism.
Life as expressed in the Jewish race had two poles: The sensual, in Solomon, and the virginal, in Jesus.
After the sensual generation of Jesus, during the Jewish dispensation, came the spiritual generation for the sal- vation of the soul, to ultimate in the sal- vation of the body.
Polygamy of Mar- monism is an attempt to imitate the oriental harems, which served their pur- pose in the economy of ethnic progression thousands of years ago.
(5) The decline of the Shakers will con- tinue until they are no more. The vitality of the Shaker body has been transposed to the Koreshan nucleus. The greater in- gathering foreseen by Ann Lee is the com- ing great communistic and co-operative gathering of the people into the Koreshan Societies.
(6) KORESH teaches the science of spirit- ual unities. When Jesus baptized his disciples, his biune life was divided and disseminated.
The males received female entities, and the females, masculine enti- ties of the divine life in the sowing.
Co- ordinated male and female entities received by two persons establish a spiritual affinity between the viduals which makes their destiny one, in the resurrection of the dead.
It is the function of the Messiah to baptize and unite soul-mates; their union cannot obtain except through the laws of Mes- sianic polarization; hence the necessity for a Messiah for each dispensation, and they have appeared at regular intervals from Adam to the present time.. To reach a satisfactory understanding of the sub- ject, it is necessary to apply one's self specifically to the study of Koreshan al- chemy in -its application to theology.
KORESH does not teach the doctrine of soul-mates or affinities along any of the lines thus far projected by modern Spirit- ualism.
Koreshan literature elucidates the subject of biune conjunction, to reach which, absolute virginity is an imperative and indispensable necessity. The Koreshan System of biune conjunction precludes any possible desire to seek after "soul-mates" while in the flesh.
First Impressions of Investigators of Koreshan Universology. Storm of Battle Between the Will and the Intellect, Concerning the Truth of Koreshan Universology.
EBITOB FRAMING SWORD:—My first im- pressions of Koreshanity came with some- thing of the compelling and instantaneous force of a galvanic battery, and my last impressions are that I cannot let go!
Koreshanity found me away from my old moorings—the church; I was groping, sometimes hopefully, sometimes heartsick, longing for the truth.
I was in rebellion against the existing conditions of the world, at the inadequacy of all attempts to better them, and at my own helplessness.
Being inclined to fatalism (more so since studying Koreshanity—does this show that I do not understand the system?), I was perhaps too passive in enduring—thinking my work was to suffer and wait, realizing my own lack of training, discipline, and obedience to the laws of life.
I felt that I would rather labor than wait; but I could not heartily and conscien- tiously labor, as I did not know whether or not I was right, and waiting was torture.
I never lost faith in God, but I felt that I was in darkness, and wanted light so in- tensely. Coming in contact with Koreshan claims of ability to prove truth by every rational process, I saw that if this claim be true it would give me the rest and peace I so greatly desired, for that peace could only be found in certain ti/. The exultant, eureka sort of feeling this gave was mixed with that of repulsion at the idea of follow- ing a mere man.
This feeling I reasoned about, fought, and let alone; thinking if I could come into a perfect understanding of the doctrine I could surely then give unbounded reverence and love to the Mes- senger who brought the Truth and could personify the same.
Intuitively, I believe, I accepted all the doctrine; yet if I was sure its acceptance would save me from great suffering and danger without rationally understanding it, such acceptance would be reluctant.
It seems that half my mind accepts, while the other half objects and criticises as harshly as the worst enemy might!
This is the selfish half that cannot accept any- thing that militates against the old nature.
Some of the truth I comprehend clearly, other portions I am not able to accept with unmixed pleasure, and some portions still seem contradictory.
But the SWORD has been so bright; its light is blending many inharmonies into one perfect harmony.
In my first contact with Koreshanity, I seemed to see all its apparent contradictions; the repellent fea- tures; the certain attitude of mocking ridi- cule and hatred of the world; the pitying, incredulous wonder of many good, honest people toward it; worst of all was the knowledge of my'own weakness to compre- hend it fully, and to know the truth intui- tively, rationally, and organically, until I had passed through—perhaps Gethsemane.
This same light has allowed me to see that the repulsiveness I found in Koreshan- ity was in reality in myself. Such deep- rooted, hideous selfishness demands a crucifixion Avhich no orthodox church requires, or sees the necessity for.
The modern church gives the devil's own amesthetic to prevent a consciousness of the presence of death within.
I am filled with a perfect rage of indig- nation at the professed Christian clergy- men and so called scientists who have retrogressed so far from Him that, although they deem the Koreshan System as fallacious, they do not faithfully and intelligently attack it and show wherein it is wrong ! Jesus did not fail to expose fallacy, and protect the w'eak from evil.
Notwithstanding the undoubted ability and power of KORESH, his increasing in- fluence for good or evil and the large num- ber of earnest, honest souls which are being influenced, these shepherds of the church wash their hands of this "crank, devil, and humbug," as he is termed.
How inconsistent! How selfishly indiffer- ent, these false shepherds who fail to show- in patience and in wisdom, the danger of the spread of the Koreshan System if it is not true ! If there are weak minds in the Koreshan Unity, there is no doubt about there being strong minds there also, and of their earnest, self-denying efforts for humanity; and if KORESH is a false teacher, they are in danger of the most infernal power of black magic ever discovered !
I do not see how those who love their fellow m a n c a n consistently ignore KORESH and iiis work; neither can I sec how KORESH can ignore the work and actual attainment of T. L. Harris and others; for is the head not conscious of the work and function of the lungs ?
The long-looked-for book has come, and it is not disappointing—only I wanted a longer chapter on the law of optics.
I tarried at page 33, and looked up some old SWORDS having articles on optics, which supplemented the chapter, or 1 could not have finished the survey.
Now, in read- ing the book there doesn't seem to be any chance for inaccuracy or dishonesty in the experiment; y e t scientific critics say there is, and to the untrained mind unable to comprehend clearly the certainty of your claims, these criticisms have some weight.
I suppose for such, there remains nothing but further study or better proof. I had a bright (?) idea of materializing the air line into a pipe line with a glass top like a continuous spirit-level; but I saw the difficulties, and also what it would not prove, and' so I will not get the idea patented!—M. Words of Welcome for the Cellu- lar Cosmogony. TJnequaled by any other Modern Publication.
Indorsement by Major Ogden Whitlock. EDITOR or FLAMING SWOHD:—Within the past two days, I have received and read CELLI-LAR COSMOGONY.
I expected the greatest intellectual and spiritual treat, and am not disappointed.
Being a practi- cal printer and newspaper man, I am pleased to say the book is a handsome spec- imen'of the art preservative, and that the quality of the contents is not only supe- rior, but utterly unequaled by any modern publication.
